State of the State Conference

The 20th annual State-of-the-State Conference will take place in Kent, Ohio, March 17, 2016, on the campus of Kent State University.

Under the theme, "Understanding our Past, Embracing our Future: The Intersections of Identity and Change", the conference will provide participants with valuable information and meaningful networking opportunities. As in the past, the conference agenda will feature relevant topics relating to issues of equity, opportunity and diversity in a broad range of employment and educational settings.

We are inviting  presentation submissions on topics that address the conference theme and that relate to strategies to advance diversity and inclusion from many perspectives.

Topics of interest for 2016 include, but are not limited to: Racial Profiling; Marriage Equality; Same Sex Benefits; Legal Issues surrounding equity; Disparities in Healthcare; Sexual Misconduct; Understanding Mental Illness; School to Prison Pipeline; Autism Spectrum; Recruitment and Retention of Diverse Populations; and Bridges out of Poverty.

Previous topical areas have included employment, healthcare, recruiting, strategic planning, workforce diversity, cultural competence, best practices, diversity in higher education, law enforcement and communities of color, diversity issues relating to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and disability, supplier diversity, and the media and diversity.

All pertinent topics will be considered.
