Meet Our Staff - Steven Zoller


Steven Zoller joined Kent State University’s Division of Human Resources in January 2017 as a Training and Development Specialist with the Department of Training and Organizational Development. Steven focuses on the professional development of faculty and staff who are individual contributors at the university.

Steven comes to us with a wealth of training experience from his career in hospitality, where he served as a professional trainer at Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel company. There he trained hundreds of employees and facilitated a multitude of training classes for Marriott associates. Steven brings a unique interpersonal and customer-focused approach to training, cultivated during his years in hospitality, and aims to make training fun, instructive, and engaging.

Steven Zoller graduated Summa cum Laude from Kent State University’s College of Arts and Sciences in 2012 with a BA in history and political science. That same year he also participated in KSU’s Geneva Program in Switzerland, where he gained diplomatic experience interning at the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention Implementation Support Unit (ISU), a treaty-implementation unit that works with the United Nations, embassies, and non-governmental organizations to implement the Ottawa Convention. At the ISU, Steven focused on treaty implementation, including landmine disarmament, non-proliferation, and humanitarian aid to victims.

Steven’s interests include history, international relations, traveling, and exploring nature, and his hobbies include strategy games, board games with friends, and listening to way too many podcasts. He is an avid lover of learning and aims to bring new knowledge and insight into each of his workshops.
