July Focus - Summer Health and Safety

Ample sunshine, longer days and warmer temperatures means more opportunities to get outside and get involved! Summer weather and activities also bring along considerations for our well-being. It’s important to keep health and safety a top priority while having fun in the sun.

The warmer weather tends to influence people’s dining habits by eating out and attending celebrations and events more frequently. Reports show that nearly half of consumers eat out more in the summer. The good news is, you can learn to make smart choices while dining out and grilling outdoors. Additionally, exercising outside can become more challenging due to the heat. Along with staying hydrated, there are steps you can take to ensure safety while engaging in outdoor physical activities like biking and swimming.

Join Employee Wellness for several webinars this month, on topics ranging from first aid basics and eating healthy on the road to staying safe on and off campus. Consider registering for the Wellable Sun-sational Summer Challenge to learn even more about summer safety, which will include education on hydration and sun protection, safe grilling, keeping bugs at bay, and how to stay safe while engaging in summer activities, such as bonfires and hikes.
