SLIS New Student Reception
New students in the School of Library and Information Science are invited to meet classmates, faculty and Interim Director Jeff Fruit at a coffee-and-donuts reception on Tuesday, Aug. 25, between 8:45 and 9:45 a.m. This event takes place just prior to the university’s Graduate Student Orientation (GSO; scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m.)
Even if you are not attending the GSO, you are invited to join us for this free, casual reception. All new SLIS students -- in library and information science, health informatics, knowledge management and user experience design -- are welcome. There is no set program or remarks; just stop by, have some coffee and make some friends. (Current students are welcome, too!)
The School is located on the third floor of the University Library (tallest building on campus), adjacent to the Student Center, where the GSO program takes place. Just take the elevator to the third floor and turn right; you’ll see our reception area just ahead through the double glass doors.
If you plan to come to the reception, please register so we have an accurate count for food: http://bit.ly/SLISNewStudentReception2015.
Free parking is available in the lot across Summit Street next to Michael Schwartz Center (C Campus Center Lot).
If you are unable to attend the reception but would like to schedule a visit to the School at another time, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 330-672-2782 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Note: This reception takes place at the School’s Kent Campus location. As you may know, we also have a location in Columbus at the State Library of Ohio. If you’re in central Ohio and want to schedule a visit to that location, please call 614-291-1001.
