K-12 School Library Media Licensure Admissions
This 29 credit-hour course of study leads to a multi-age licensure in school library media. This program prepares students to work in school libraries only and incorporates courses from the School of Library and Information Science and Instructional Technology. Upon completion of the program, students are qualified to sit for a state exam and apply for licensure.
Please note: Those seeking licensure in the state of Ohio must have current teaching credentials to be eligible for the School Library Media Licensure-only program. Applicants outside of Ohio should contact their state’s Board of Education for any unique requirements.
Licensure Only Admissions Procedures
Please provide the items requested below.
- Official Transcripts Request an official transcript from each college/university in which nine (9) semester hours or more were earned, except for Kent State University.
- Online Graduate Non-Degree Application Applicants are required to create an account, which allows them to save the application and track the progress of materials submitted via the application system. The online application will indicate "Kent Campus" for all Kent, Columbus and online students. Licensure is offered through the College of Communication and Information.

School Library Media Licensure Program Admissions Procedures
Applicants to the School Library Media Licensure program are required to submit the same supplemental documents as those applying to the Master of Library and Information Science program and are reviewed according to the same admission standards.
