Introduction to Higher Education Data Architecture (HEDA)

HEDA is a community-driven data architecture and set of best practices designed to configure Salesforce out of the box for Higher Ed.

This architecture includes new objects for Address, Affiliation, Course, Course Connection, Course Offering, Program Enrollment, Relationship, and Term. There are also additional fields included in existing objects like the Account and Contact.

You may be wondering, “Don’t we already have managed packages to put a higher ed face on Salesforce? Why would we use HEDA?” HEDA is the foundation of our connected campus. Hundreds of partner apps are moving to the Higher Education Data Architecture, including TargetX. Their approach will be to mirror data in like objects as they migrate their functionality in future releases. Using HEDA will allow us to accelerate development and configuration with objects and functionality created specifically for Higher Education.

Look forward to learning in more in the coming months as HEDA is implemented in SF1 (Recruiting) and SF2 (Admissions, Current and Past Student).
