Alumnus Christopher Busta-Peck, M.L.I.S. ’05, has published his first book, Hidden History of Cleveland (The History Press, 2011).
Busta-Peck is the founding editor of the website Cleveland Area History, known as "the voice of history and historic preservation in the greater Cleveland area." Since it was created two years ago, Cleveland Area History has grown to more than 500 daily readers and counts more than 3,000 followers on Facebook.
In Hidden History of Cleveland, Busta-Peck discusses aspects of Cleveland’s past that have been all but forgotten, such as Jesse Owens' East 100th Street home (at the time of the 1936 Olympics); Langston Hughes’s attic apartment on East 86th, where he lived alone during his sophomore and junior years of high school; and some of the oldest surviving structures in Cleveland.
Loganberry Books in Cleveland (13015 Larchmere Blvd, Cleveland, OH 44120) will host a release party for the book on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at 7 p.m. The author will talk and sign copies of the book. Refreshments will be served.
