Director, Faculty Travel to Copenhagen

Kent State University School of Library and Information Science will be represented at the 2016 ASIS&T (Association for Information Science & Technology) Annual Meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark, Oct.14-18, by Director Kendra Albright, Ph.D.; Assistant Professor Marianne Martens, Ph.D.; and Assistant Professor Lala Hajibayova, Ph.D.

Professor Marcia Lei Zeng, Ph.D., will represent Kent State SLIS at the International Conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications, Oct. 13-16, in Copenhagen.

ASIS&T Presentations

Panel Session - Monday, October 17: Marianne Martens, Kent State University, will present a paper titled “Subversively addressing information poverty: Alma Flor Ada, social justice, and the quest for bilingual books in America 1970-2014” as part of a panel called “Dismantling information poverty in cultural production for young people,” with Dr. Nicole Cooke, Graduate School of Information Science at the University of Illinois, and Dr. Beth Juncker, Royal School of Library and Information Science.

President’s Reception & Poster Session – Monday, October 17: Lala Hajibayova, Kent State University, will present a poster titled “Representation of Kanaka Maoli (Hawai’ian) Culture: A case of Hula Dance” with W. Buente; L. Quiroga; S. Valeho-Novikoff.

Panel Session - Tuesday, October 18: Lala Hajibayova, Kent State University, is co-organizer and presenter on a panel titled “Crowdsourcing approaches for knowledge organization systems: Crowd collaboration or crowd work”with Maayan Zhitomirsky-Geffet, Bar-Ilan University, Israel; Timothy Bowman, University of Turku, Finland; Juho Hamari, University of Tampere, Finland; Julia Bullard, The University of Texas at Austin; Barbara H. Kwasnik, Syracuse University.

International Conference on Dublin Core & Metadata Applications

Marcia Lei Zeng, Kent State University, will participate as follows:
