Remediate Compromised Outlook 2013 or 2016 Account
Fix Changed Signature:
- Open Microsoft Outlook 2013 or 2016
- Select “File” from the upper-left corner
- Select “Options”
- Select “Mail” from the left side of the options dialog
- Select “Signatures…”
- Check for signatures that you did not set
- Report any signature that you did not set to security@kent.edu and then delete the signature by selecting the signature under “Select signature to edit” and then clicking “Delete”
- Report any signature that you did not set to security@kent.edu and then delete the signature by selecting the signature under “Select signature to edit” and then clicking “Delete”
Fix Filters/Inbox Rules:
- Open Microsoft Outlook 2013 or 2016
- Select “File” from the upper-left corner
- Click on “Manage Rules & Alerts” under the “Account Information” section
- Under both the “Email Rules” and “Manage Alerts” tabs, check for rules that you did not set
- If there are any rules that you did not set, report them to security@kent.edu and delete the rule.
- If there are any rules that you did not set, report them to security@kent.edu and delete the rule.
