Lorie Bednar joined Kent State’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 2015 as an administrative clerk in the Office of Student Media and in the main JMC office.
Lorie graduated from Kent State in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. In the past, she worked as a weekend copy desk chief for The News Herald, a copy editor, beat reporter, page designer, news editor and real estate editor for the Record-Courier and a freelancer who proofread numerous books relating to community and educational topics. Most recently, Lorie served as assistant director and then co-director of the Kent Historical Society Museum, where she was responsible for the museum’s operations, social media, media relations, event planning and quarterly newsletter.
In addition, Lorie illustrated a book jacket for a book (Names and Naming in Joyce) published by the University of Wisconsin Press in 1994. She also received an Associated Press Award for an enterprise story in June 1996 while working for the Record-Courier.
