Thor Wasbotten, director of the Kent State School of Journalism and Mass Communication, has been named vice president of the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication (ASJMC). ASJMC is a non-profit, educational association composed of approximately 190 collegiate journalism and mass communication programs.
The association facilitates high standards and effective practices in journalism and mass communication education, promotes a public understanding of the role of media in a democratic society, and supports the accreditation process of journalism and mass communication programs through the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).
Wasbotten will officially assume the vice president duties at the ASJMC conference in Minneapolis in early August.
