Student Media Advertising Staff Earns National Recognition at Convention

The Kent State Office of Student Media advertising staff attended the national College Media Business and Advertising Managers (CMBAM) convention, March 9-13, 2016, in Denver. CMBAM’s annual convention features dozens of sessions led by national industry experts, newspaper and advertising industry professionals. CMBAM runs the premier national awards competition for excellence in business and advertising operations.

Nearly 60 colleges and universities from across the country submitted more than 650 entries to the competition. CMBAM recognized 125 winners from 29 schools. Kent State student media staff earned:    

  • Second Place – Best Newspaper Special Section for “Best of Kent”
  • Second Place – Best 30-Second Commercial 

Student account executive Lindsey Foster, ’16, advertising major, won a fellowship position for CMBAM. This is an expense-paid scholarship for the top advertising students in the nation. Lindsey was one of 60 students in the running for the coveted position. A CMBAM fellow serves with the Executive Board to run the national convention. Four Kent State student account representatives have held this position over the years, the most of any school within CMBAM. 

Advertising Manager Tami Cindea Bongiorni was re-elected to serve as president of the organization and will serve on the executive board for CMBAM for the next three years.
