Center for Scholastic Journalism
The Center for Scholastic Journalism aims to develop innovative instruction and research that satisfy the needs of high school journalists and their advisers. These will include summer workshops, weekend short courses, an online master’s degree program, other distributed learning delivery and a Web site with teaching materials.
The program also provides guest speakers for journalism classes, runs five regional conferences and a state convention for teachers and students through Ohio Scholastic Media Association, and critiques and judges member publications. The research agenda includes exploring the impact of student media on civic engagement and First Amendment awareness and the implications of educational trends on teacher effectiveness.
