GreenTown at Kent
The Mark Fenton Walk will be held Monday, April 13 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Fenton is a former Olympic race walker and now champion of walkable, bikeable communities. Fenton will lead a one-hour walk of downtown Kent that will make you see community in a whole new way. Highly engaging and interactive, the walk is perfect for those living in Kent and for anyone who lives in a community interested in making its commercial districts more walkable. Discussion will take place at the end of the walk. The walk will begin and end at the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center.
There will be a Bike-N-Brainstorm at 2:15 p.m., April 14, in downtown Kent as part of the transportation track at GreenTown at Kent. This event will provide an opportunity for participants to get out of a meeting room and experience the community of Kent by bike. In addition to being an opportunity to experience an on-road bike tour, the Bike-N-Brainstorm will serve as an opportunity to look at innovative projects, as well as future improvements and proposed developments. Along the route, the Bike-N-Brainstorm will feature a discussion at Plum Creek Park, Holden School and Recreation Center, and Kent State Student Recreation Center.
Pre-registration, while not required, is encouraged. Bike rentals are available but are limited. Participants in need of a bike must pre-register to reserve a bike. Bike rentals are made available through Kent State University’s Recreational Services.
