Alcohol & Drug Use

Alcohol and other types of drug use are significant concerns for the health, safety and productivity of students and employees. College students have even higher rates of alcohol and other drug use than the general population. College students use these substances for a variety of reasons, including to relieve stress, to cope with tough coursework, to experiment and because of peer pressure. The use of alcohol and other drugs increases the risk of injury, unprotected sex, assault, sexual abuse and addiction. The Kent State of Well-being will include programs and initiatives that focus on education, prevention, intervention and support programming for students, faculty and staff who have an alcohol or drug use disorder or who are in recovery.
