Physical Activity

The benefits of regular physical activity include decreases in mortality, obesity, coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, depressive disorders and cancers. Sedentary behavior and obesity are associated with decreased productivity due to absenteeism. Physical activity patterns that are established in college are likely to continue into adulthood.

Because of the potential serious health consequences associated with sedentary behavior, and the benefits of even moderate physical activity, the Kent State of Wellness will seek to incorporate policy, environmental, and behavioral incentive strategies to increase physical activity among our students and employees.
