Now in its 15th year, the Poynter KSU Media Ethics Workshop is a one-day training program for professionals, educators and students that examines critical issues and perspectives in media ethics.
The annual Robert G. McGruder Distinguished Lecture and Awards Program recognizes the accomplishments of media professionals who encourage diversity. It is one of Kent State University's most successful events celebrating diversity.
This lecture series features nationally recognized figures discussing critical issues in media ethics, furthering enhancing the school’s national reputation as a leader in the field.
The William D. Taylor Award Journalism Alumnus of the Year is the most prestigious award given by the School of Media and Journalism, and the Fast-Track Award recognizes a recent alumnus/alumna who has been a significant early achiever in his/her field.
Kent State University hosts the annual Ohio Scholastic Media Association (OSMA) State Convention. The event attracts more than 300 high school students and advisers and features dozens of workshop and skill sessions, day-of contests, high school news and yearbook critiques, an awards ceremony/banquet and keynote speaker.
