Cindi Deutschman-Ruiz has been an adjunct professor since 2009, teaching a wide range of communications courses including mass communication, interpersonal communication, film appreciation, and public speaking, among others. She has taught Fundamentals of Media Messages at the Kent State School of Media and Journalism since 2020.
Prior to teaching, Deutschman-Ruiz was a journalist for many years, working primarily in public radio, but producing award-winning work for print, television, and online audiences as well. In addition to working as a reporter, producer, editor, and talk show host at various times, she also produced several radio documentaries.
She has been a freelance writer and editor for more than two decades, in recent years primarily writing features and profiles for nonprofit arts and educational institutions.
