About Franklin Advertising
Franklin Advertising is a hands-on student organization for anyone pursuing a degree in advertising, marketing, visual design or other related communications studies. The organization acts as a bridge between dedicated students and local agencies and professionals.
As a club, Franklin Advertising dives into the advertising world by offering experiences like mock agency practices, admission to the Akron ADDY Awards and the opportunity to attend New York Advertising Week. Additionally, Franklin Advertising regularly works with real clients to give students the opportunity to gain experience in an agency environment. Members leave equipped with networking skills and a clear understanding of the industry.
Franklin Advertising meets Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Franklin Hall 213.
If you have questions, please contact our faculty adviser, Wendy Wardell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Membership to the club includes hands-on workshops, professional speakers, agency tours and other advertising-related events that further students' professional growth. Membership costs $25 for one semester or $50 for two semesters. For more information about membership, contact Alissa Woodward at email@example.com.
Events and Professional Development Opportunities
Every fall semester, Franklin Advertising partners with PRSSA Kent to co-host an annual networking event for communications students. Attendees connect with industry professionals from companies and organizations in Northeast Ohio. Additionally, students develop their professional portfolio with professional headshots and resume reviews.
Every spring semester, Franklin Advertising works alongside KSU Flashathon, a student-run philanthropy that benefits Akron Children’s Hospital. Franklin Advertising produces promotional materials and host events leading up to Flashathon.
The FAd Awards is a creative awards ceremony hosted by Franklin Advertising. This event works as a platform for students to present their best creative work to professionals, faculty members and fellow students. Submissions are judged upon the following categories: Best Video Piece, Best Logo Design, Best Print Piece, Best Photograph, Best Web Design, Best Illustration, Best Copy and Best in Show.
New York Advertising Week
Students involved in Franklin Advertising can join professionals from around the world at Advertising Week to share best practices in the advertising industry. The week-long event includes seminars, workshops, networking opportunities and nightly concerts, all of which give students a clear picture of the advertising, marketing and entertainment industries. For more information about New York Advertising Week, contact Wendy Wardell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
