Lindsey Vlasic, Public Relations

Internship: Heritage Valley Health System

“Working in my current professional environment is not much different than the work I have done in my classes."

As an intern with Heritage Valley Health System, Lindsey Vlasic has been working to keep the public informed about the Pennsylvania hospital’s physicians. She writes and compiles press releases about new doctors joining the system and also works on keeping their biographies on the website up to date.

Her public relations classes have prepared her well for this work; she says: “Working in my current professional environment is not much different than the work I have done in my classes. I do a lot of writing and spend a lot of time researching or reading about different physicians, similar to the research I have to do for hypothetical scenarios we are given in class.”

Her on-campus job within the Kent State Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement also set her up for success. She says: “Classes are obviously a big part of education, but actually doing the work that you learn about in class prepares you the best. In my time there, I have been able to learn so much about PR, and I have loved every second of it.”
