Youth Mental Health First Aid
The course is on Monday 3/11/2019 and Tuesday 3/12/2019 from 11am-3pm in the Moulton Hall Ballroom.
This is the YOUTH Mental Health First Aid course. The class is for adults who work with youth ages 12-18. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders. Participants must be present for the entire time. The course is offered for free by the More Aware Initiative for Kent State University students, faculty, and staff.
