Coping, Depression, Anxiety, Support

“After almost ten years without therapy or medication, a chronic health problem began to seriously impact my mental health. Seeing a therapist again after so long was nerve-wracking, but made a world of difference. Working to prioritize my mental health also meant being okay with going back to counseling and doing things I thought I didn't need to do anymore. But, I learned new ways of coping, of handling stress and maintaining strong relationships. Mental health isn't something that gets "fixed" once and for all, but needs constant tending. After only a few sessions, I felt better-equipped to manage my emotions and engage in self-care. I thought I should be able to handle this myself now that I'm in a professional role, but I learned that everyone deserves the support they need, especially those whose job it is to help others.”
