Jungho Kim Named Music Director and Conductor of Tuscarawas Philharmonic

After a two-year search process, the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Orchestra has found its new Music Director in Kent State’s Director of Orchestra Jungho Kim, D.M.A. He’ll take over the role from current Music Director Eric Benjamin at the conclusion of the Philharmonic’s season in June 2022. Kim is only the third new director of the ensemble in nearly 50 years.

In a press release, Philharmonic Board Chairman John Maxwell said, “the organization sought a candidate who would not only be a dynamic leader of the Philharmonic musicians but also become involved in the community, be committed to youth outreach, and be a stellar musician in their own right. In Dr. Kim, we have checked all of those important boxes.”

In this new role, Kim will serve as Music Director and Conductor for the Tuscawaras Philharmonic Orchestra and also lead the youth programming of the organization.
