Kent State University Orchestra Society to host 45th Annual Evening with the Orchestra April 15
Kent, Ohio – The Kent State University Orchestra Society and the Hugh A. Glauser School of Music at Kent State University will present the 45th annual Evening with the Orchestra on Sat., April 15 in the Ballroom of the Kent State University Student Center. This annual fundraising gala raises thousands of dollars in scholarships every year for the orchestra’s student musicians.
The evening begins with a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m., where guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m., followed by a performance of the Kent State University Orchestra at 8 p.m. Under the direction of Dr. Jungho Kim, the orchestra will perform works by Rossini, Bizet, Grieg and more. Graham Wood, winner of the annual conduct-the-orchestra auction, will also join the orchestra to conduct. A highlight of the evening will be the announcement of the winner of The Leopold Sipe Award, given yearly to an outstanding orchestra musician.

The Orchestra Society was founded in 1973 by Ben Frost, Benjamin McGinnis, Rev. Lloyd O’Keefe, and Sinfonia director Leopold Sipe. Unique as a community organization, its primary mission is to provide scholarship support for the Kent State University Orchestra.
