Manuel Gomez, Freshman Vocal Performance major, was selected as a finalist for the 2019 Hal Leonard Vocal Competition College/University, Art Song division. Manuel was chosen from nearly 100 singers in the United States and Canada. He is an undergraduate student of Timothy Culver (Voice).
Xuyue Frank Qing, a graduate student of Timothy Culver (Voice), has been accepted as a semi-finalist for the Washington International Competition. The next round of the competition is scheduled for May 25, 2019, at George Washington University.
Students of Priwan Nanongkham (Ethnomusicology) will be performing as part of "Passages: Locating Global Traditions in SE Asian Music and Performance." This Interdisciplinary Symposium is sponsored by the Southeast Asian and ASEAN Studies Program, College of Arts and Humanities Institute at Indiana University. The students perform on April 19, 2019.
Timothy Culver (Voice) recently performed as tenor soloist with both the Akron Symphony Orchestra and Canton Symphony Orchestra. With the ASO, he performed on Feb. 9 alongside baritone Brian Keith Johnson for Bernard Herrmann's Moby-Dick. His Canton Symphony appearance on March 23 also included a morning masterclass held at Malone University.
A new work written by Professor Adam Roberts (Composition), The Book of Doubt/Book of Faith, will be premiered in New York Center at the Center for Jewish Research alongside Morton Feldman's Rothko Chapel and David Lang's The Little Match Girl Passion, May 19, 2019.
