Foundations of Excellence is Kent State’s bold investment in its short- and long-term future — especially in the future success of our students, faculty and staff, and in the success of the region served by our eight campuses. With projects ranging from the construction of new buildings to environmentally conscious upgrades, we are part of an effort that is truly historic in size, scope and significance.

Newly Completed Projects

INTEGRATED SCIENCES BUILDING

The Integrated Sciences Building houses classrooms, labs, research lab space and faculty offices. It is adjacent to the Student Green and Williams hall, and wraps around and connect to the existing Williams Hall in the Science Corridor. The building is approximately 57,000 gross square feet with an additional 13,500 square feet in an unfinished basement.

A grand opening event was held September 15, 2017

Renovations to Existing Science Buildings

Necessary preservation measures were made to the three existing science buildings on the Kent Campus: Smith, Cunningham and Williams halls. These buildings were constructed in the late 1960s and required critical renovations to address deferred maintenance issues.  The project addressed HVAC, electrical, fire protection and detection and building envelope upgrades, ADA accessibility, code compliance upgrades and targeted improvements to teaching and laboratory spaces.

CENTER FOR ARCHITECTURE AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

The Center for Architecture and Environmental Design brings all of the programs in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) under one roof. The Construction Management program is also be housed in this new building. The facility is approximately 107,000 square feet and is located between South Lincoln and Willow Streets, just south of the Esplanade. The building open for classes Fall Semester 2016.
