River View Golfer Signs With Golf Team

Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a River View High School graduating senior to their golf team. On April 26, Jake Moore signed a Letter of Intent to play for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles Golf Team.

Moore is a four-year varsity letter winner for the Black Bears and garnered numerous athletic awards at River View. He earned Second Team East District honors as a freshman and was name to the East District First Team during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. He was selected as team captain and earned East Central Ohio League second team honors during his junior and senior seasons, as well as being a three-time district tournament qualifier and missed a state tournament berth by just two strokes his junior year. Moore also won medalist honors in 13 matches and owned a 38.4 average for nine-holes, while also completing his career with an 18-hole average of 76.8. He once scored a rare albatross at Crystal Springs Golf Course his junior year.

“I’m over the moon with the signing of Jake,” said Rob Brindley, Head Golf Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. “Jake is so meticulous and thoughtful on the golf course, which is really evident when you look at his stats. He has a keen ability to stay in the moment and shrug off an errant shot or bad hole. “It’s easy to see why he is so well respected and liked by his peers, as he is very soft spoken but plays with confidence. He has left quite a legacy to live up to at River View High School and is just the kind of young man who will further our program in its quest for a national championship. Jake has certainly opened the door for other athletes of his caliber to come to our campus and make an immediate yet lasting impact.”

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
