The Vindys, Speedbumps, and Party of 2 team with Kent State Trumbull to raise money for families in need

One of the most sought-after bands in Northeast Ohio, The Vindys, is teaming up with Kent State University at Trumbull and its Concert Series to raise money for Rock4Reason and Flash’s Food Pantry at Kent State Trumbull.

The Vindys with specials guests, The Speedbumps and Party of 2, will take over Packard Music Hall this Sweetest Day, Saturday, Oct. 20.

“We always look forward to our hometown shows," said Jackie Popovec, lead singer of The Vindys. "Packard Music Hall is such an incredible venue, and we are thrilled at the opportunity to be a part of Kent State University at Trumbull's concert series. This show is sure to be one you won't want to miss, and it's even more special to us because we're helping to raise money for two amazing causes in our community."

Rock4Reason is a local non-profit that is dedicated to providing financial and therapeutic support through the power of music to families impacted by cancer and to community agencies providing care for cancer and/or terminally ill patients. Frank Lindsay, R4R co-founder and Kent State Trumbull’s Manager of Information Technology, began forming the nonprofit after his father, Frank Lindsay, Sr., lost his battle with cancer in 2000.

“The hospice organizations that helped with my dad showed such devotion and compassion. They made a difficult time a little more tolerable,” said Lindsay. “With Rock4Reason, we are able to provide a little relief and maybe even quality time to families.”

“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with The Vindys,” said Lindsay. “On stage, they are an incredibly talented band. However, working with them on this project, I realized they are deep-rooted in the Mahoning Valley and want to make a difference.”

Concert proceeds will be shared with Flash’s Food Pantry. The pantry will serve Kent State Trumbull students and their families and is expected to open on campus in late November.

General Admission tickets are $15 if purchased at Packard Music Hall and $15 plus applicable fees online at Ticketmaster. Tickets are $20 on the night of the show.

The Vindys
Since 2013, THE VINDYS have become one of the most sought after, premier bands in the Northeast Ohio area with their unique blend of pop, jazz, and rock. They have been described as “a vibrant slice of vintage pop theatre.” (Music Connection Magazine) and “slinky, sultry, and jazzy” (Guy D’Astolfo, The Vindicator). Through the incorporation of multiple genres into one cohesive sound, The Vindys have the ability to appeal to a wide audience. Their versatility and incomparable style is one of the many reasons why The Vindys are a rarity amongst other groups. Their professional sound, as well as alluring stage presence and magnetic charisma, is supported by the band’s background and expertise in music performance, education, and production.

The Speedbumps
The Speedbumps are an award-winning American band with a warm, authentic sound, built on a passion for hollow-bodied instruments, indie-folk and indie-rock influences, and singer-songwriter Erik Urycki’s breathy, commanding vocals and canny phrasing.

The band’s roots lie deep in the Rustbelt, where quiet strength and limited embellishment define the culture. The working class towns around Akron, the former rubber capital, from which artists like The Black Keys, Jessica Lea Mayfield, and Joseph Arthur have emerged, have provided the band with an aesthetic that seeks to tease out beauty from the gritty details of everyday life.

Party of 2
Party of 2 is a well established local acoustic duo playing both private and public events around the area. The members of the duo, Katelyn DeLadurantey, and Joe Richley, have been playing together for 3 years, and together have over 35 years of experience in music. DeLadurantey on vocals and Richley on guitar and vocals play anything from Hall and Oates to Stevie Wonder, The Avett Brothers, Sara Barellis and much more. Working steadily in the Youngstown and Warren areas for the past 3 years, Party of 2 enjoys performing a wide variety of music that is able to appeal to many generations.  The duo continues to seek performance opportunities that allow them to do what they love, and bring the joy of music to those around them.
