Upward Bound Celebrates a Successful College and Career Readiness Event

As winter came to a close, our three Upward Bound programs joined forces to host a College and Career Readiness event for our families. More than 200 participants spent their morning engaged in enrichment programming led by our Kent State college partners. Colleges of Aeronautics and Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Design, Business Administration, Communication and Information, and Nursing committed their time leading conversations and engaging activities on majors and careers. Kent State Financial Aid and Air Force ROTC provided additional college resources. At the same time, our parents heard from Healing Hearts Counseling & Consultation Services on the importance of self-care and high school seniors experienced a focused seminar on preparing for their first day of college.

In the heart of spring, join us in honoring our 60 high school seniors representing seven high schools in Northeastern Ohio at the Upward Bound Senior Celebration planned for Thursday, May 23, 5 pm - 7 pm. Looking ahead to summer, Upward Bound is planning the annual Summer Institute, running parallel to Kent State’s Summer Session I. This experience will provide academic and co-curricular encounters that support college readiness, enrollment and persistence, as Upward Bound alumni work toward degree completion.
