International Resident Assistant Exchange – Learning On Both Sides Of The World

This past fall semester, Kent State Resident Assistants (RA) traveled to Deakin University in Australia for the inaugural International Resident Assistant Exchange program. This joint venture between University Housing and the Office of International Student Affairs developed out of the desire to internationalize further not only Residence Services, but also the experiences of our Resident Assistants.

While in Australia, the RAs had the opportunity to interact with other RAs at Deskin University, participate in the Global Housing Training Institute, learn about housing practices in another country, and gain understanding of housing operations from a new lens.

The experience of this exchange does not stop with our Kent State RAs traveling to Australia. This coming June, RAs from Deakin University will be visiting Kent State and experiencing a similar exchange of culture and ideas. All of us in University Housing are excited to welcome our Australian friends to Kent and to continue the dialog and culture exchange that started this past fall.
