Calling Ohio Artists, Writers, Performers and Makers for the Kent Creativity Festival!
The Kent Creativity Festival event planning committee is accepting applications to participate in the upcoming Kent Creativity Festival, to be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019. The event draws nearly 3,000 attendees annually, and expectations are high for an even more successful event in 2019. This festival will again provide an opportunity for people of all ages and skill levels to come together and create, share and explore the making of all forms of art. It is a collective effort by the City of Kent and Kent State University, including many organizations focused on arts and culture in our vibrant city. Food trucks will also be on site.
The Kent Creativity Festival is a free event, and will take place on the Lester A. Lefton Esplanade between Rockwell Hall and downtown Kent. Participants are asked to prepare and lead interactive activities that will engage and inspire people to explore their own creativity, and participate in the joy and transformative power of making art. The event is multigenerational, so we ask that your activity be appropriate for a wide span of ages. A $250 stipend will be provided to those selected to be a part of this event. The application deadline is June 1, 2019 and selections will be made by July 15, 2019.
A few examples of past interactive activities include:
Creative Story Telling: participate in creative story telling in words and action complete with props and costumes. Poetry: write and illustrate your own poem. Unity Project: participate in a communal woven art sculpture based on identity. Printmaking: Create your own screened print. Music: Conduct an orchestra! Architecture: create and build with giant blocks.
We encourage you to share your creativity and submit your proposal to be a part of this second annual event. We are also accepting inquiries in regard to food truck participation. If you are a food truck vendor and would like to join the 2019 Kent Creativity Festival, please send an email to kentcreativityfestival@gmail.com and we will provide you with the details.
