Fall Move-in 2020: Staggered, Safe, and Successful

It goes without saying this was the most unconventional residence hall move-in process ever at Kent State University and one we will never forget. Between August 19 – 23, over 3,600 new and returning Flashes moved into their residence hall rooms. New this year were staggered and timed move-in slots to allow for move physical distancing and reduced crowd levels around buildings, in lobbies, and on elevators. While different than traditional move-in processes, many students and family members mentioned they enjoyed the ability to slowly move-in and to do so in a safe and efficient way.

As in past years, upper division students were on hand as Movers & Groovers to help new students and families with directions around campus, to assist with cart distribution, and to be a welcome and friendly face, even through their face coverings. Also, this year President Diacon joined in the move-in fun as he welcomed members of the Kent Interhall Council Executive Board to the first day of the move-in process. While we all hope this will be a move-in process we will not need to repeat again next year, we also know that through these challenging times we have witnessed the multitude of ways we show that Flashes Take Care of Flashes!
