Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

The Flashes Fly Past Cardinals

Kent, Ohio -  The Kent State men's basketball team (16-3, 6-0 MAC) kept their winning streak alive in their 86-65 win against the Ball State Cardinals.

The Flashes' win tonight is their tenth straight win. The Flashes are off to their best start in conference play since the 2005-06 season when the Flashes went on a 7-0 run to start the MAC season. The Flashes went 25-9 in that same season making an appearance in the NCAA tournament. With 15 straight wins, the Flashes are fourth in the NCAA for the longest active home winning streak.

The Flashes started the game with a 7-0 run in a packed M.A.C. Center and the team used that to its advantage and did not look back. Despite the Cardinals battling putting on a 10-4 run making the game a one-point game, the Flashes put up 14 straight points to take a 25-10 lead with 7:38 left in the first stanza. The Flashes left the first half with not only an impressive dunk by Chris Payton but Sincere Carry sinking a three in the last 30 seconds.

Chris Payton had his best game of the season, coming off the bench with multiple video-worthy dunks and a career-high 16 points. Payton shot perfectly from the field (6-of-6) and collected six boards to help the Flashes breeze past the Cardinals. Sincere Carry once again led the offense scoring a game-high 18 points along with three assists, and one steal. Jalen Sullinger was another impressive player that came off the bench hitting threes and recording double-digits with 13 points.

Head Coach Rob Senderoff was pleased with the Flashes' performance tonight "This is the most complete effort we have had in the MAC. We must stay humble and compete hard every single day."

As a whole, the Flashes had 50 points in the paint, shooting 50.8 percent from the field, and 42.9 percent from beyond the arch. The Flashes only had seven turnovers and outrebounded the Cardinals 37 to 31.
