Thomas-Dodd Places Fifth at World Athletics Championships

BUDAPEST, Hungary – Kent State University track and field graduates Danniel Thomas-Dodd and Grace Tennant competed in the women's shot put this past Saturday at the 2023 World Athletics Championships at the National Athletics Centre.

Thomas-Dodd took fifth in the competition with a mark of 19.59m (64'-3.25") on her third attempt during the finals round. This is the third top-five finish at World Championships for the Westmoreland, Jamaica native, whose best showing was a silver medal in 2019. Thomas-Dodd will compete at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics next year after securing her third Olympic spot at the Jamaican Championships in July.

Tennant fouled on her three attempts during the qualifying round as the Caistor Centre, Canada competed at the event for the first time.
