Kent State to Host FlaSHEs Will Weekend Next Week

KENT, Ohio – Kent State Athletics, in collaboration with the Kent State University Women's Center, is proud to host its FlaSHEs Will weekend next week as volleyball, field hockey, and soccer all host home events.

Field hockey kicks off FlaSHES Will weekend when they face Ohio on Friday, Sept. 22, at Murphy-Mellis Field at 3 p.m. Volleyball hosts a pair of home matches in the M.A.C. Center, squaring off with Buffalo on Friday at 6 p.m. and again on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. Soccer wraps up the weekend when they take on Akron at Zoeller Field at Dix Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m.

Outside of athletic competitions, the Women's Center will be hosting discussion sessions on Tuesday, Sept. 19 and Thursday, Sept. 21 from 12-1 p.m. at the Williamson House. Titled "Twice as Good and Half Enough," the discussions will center on gender inequity in athletics. Pizza will be provided.

Click here to register for either of the two discussion sessions. Those who attend the sessions will receive a FlaSHEs Will t-shirt that can be picked up at any of the home events over the weekend.

FlaSHEs Will events aim to get girls and women from the surrounding communities of Kent involved in athletics while also supporting Kent State female athletes throughout their competitive seasons each year.

Kent State's FlaSHEs Will campaign was launched to highlight the rich history of Kent State Women's Athletics and celebrate the incredible female student-athletes who have represented the Golden Flashes. Kent State Athletics first partnered with the university's Women's Center in 2017 to raise awareness of gender equity issues and Title IX by tabling at one event per women's team each season.

Each event throughout the weekend will have different fun giveaways for fans, all of which can be found here.
