KENT- Every single Golden Flash program posted a term grade-point average (GPA) above a 3.0 for the first time in history, highlighting an exemplary semester in the classroom for Kent State Athletics.

The Flashes ran the department streak to 25-straight semesters with a cumulative GPA over 3.0, setting a department record with a 3.358 cumulative GPA. In terms of individual semester rankings, it also marks the 24th consecutive semester with an average semester GPA over 3.0, setting a new benchmark with a 3.371 GPA.

The Golden Flashes football program posted an in-season team GPA above a 3.0 for the first time in program history and the program set new program marks for term and cumulative GPA. Six programs joined football with new records for term or cumulative GPA. Three more programs earned their respective program's second-highest GPA this semester. Eight teams posted their semester and cumulative GPAs over a 3.40.

"We continue to raise the standard of the work our student-athletes do in the classroom, and I could not be prouder of that accomplishment," Vice President, Director of Athletics, Randale L. Richmond said. "The work of our academic support staff, the leadership of our coaches and the work ethic of our student-athletes is remarkable. Achievements such as these are truly department-wide accomplishments. This is another milestone in our mission to graduate student-athletes, boldly prepared for life after sport and winning championships."

Individually, 67 students (14 percent) had a perfect 4.0 semester, marking yet another record for the department. Nearly 300 (281) student-athletes had a 3.4 GPA or higher this semester while over three-fourths of all student-athletes (78 percent) had a 3.0 or higher GPA.
