A Golden Flash through and through

After graduating with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science (nursing) from Kent State Tuscarawas in May 2005, I began my nursing career, with little thought to what the future would hold. I worked as a nurse on a busy Cardiac Stepdown unit for several years before I decided to head back to school to complete my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN). Knowing I had completed my Associate's Degree through Kent State, I knew it would be an easy transition to begin my Bachelor's at Kent State through an online option. With 2 small children at the time and a busy nursing job, it seemed like the right fit!

I completed my BSN in about 18 months, graduated in May 2011 from the Kent campus, then transitioned into a nursing position in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Though working in the ICU was very fulfilling, I knew I wasn't quite done with my education. When contemplating schools for my Master's degree, one seemed obvious - Kent State! I graduated with a Master's of Science in Nursing (Education) in December 2016.

I continued to work in the Intensive Care Unit, but also accepted an adjunct position teaching clinical nursing at Kent State's Stark Campus. In August 2017, I began teaching critical care nursing as a full-time faculty member at Kent State Stark and I couldn't be happier! Now, I am proud to say I am not only a Kent State alumna (3 times over), but also a faculty member! I am a Golden Flash through and through!
