A Shift from health education to nursing

I initially began my journey in the health education Ph.D. Program at KSU. Once my mother passed assay, my priorities in life changed and I began to take prerequisites for nursing.

I joined the accelerated nursing program in Fall 2015 and never looked back. I enjoyed and took advantage of each opportunity given through the wonderful faculty and staff at KSU. I graduated with honors in December 2016 and relocated back to my hometown - Chattanooga, TN.

Upon relocating, I earned a position as a graduate nurse tech (contingent upon passing NCLEX) at my city's level 1 trauma hospital. I now have transitioned into a nurse in one of the ICU's and could not be happier with my decision to become a nurse. Further, I have decided to advance my studies and become a psychiatric nurse practitioner and care for those that are often forgotten or left behind.

I am eternally grateful for KSU nursing and the wonderful faculty and staff. Thank you KSU Nursing!
