Anita W. O'Toole, professor emerita of nursing, Kent State University, has been named as one of the first recipients of the Alumni Legacy Leaders award by Indiana University School of Nursing. The Top 100 Alumni Legacy Leaders were honored on June 21, 2014, as part of IU’s 100th Anniversary Celebration Weekend in Indianapolis, IN.
O’Toole joined the faculty at Kent State’s College of Nursing in 1974. Throughout her distinguished career, she co-edited and co-authored numerous publications and gave presentations in the U.S. and abroad. She also conducted research on several topics, including the recognition and reporting of child abuse. The Alumni Legacy Leaders award recognizes the outstanding contributions of 100 of IU’s more than 30,000 living alumni. A competitive submission and review process was used to select the 100 extraordinary alumni for this award and took into consideration the breadth and depth of their contributions.
