Faculty

  • Loretta Aller, PhDc, RN, was interviewed for an article in the Canton Repository addressing healthy holiday eating.
  • Jennifer Doyle, MSN, RN, WHNP-BC, was honored at the University of Louisville (where she completed her graduate degree) as the Alumni Fellow of the Year, School of Nursing.
  • Jennifer Doyle, MSN, RN, WHNP-BC, began serving her term as President, Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses, on Jan. 1, 2018.
  • Kim Cleveland, JD, MSN, RN, C-MBC, served as debate moderator for the College of Nursing's inaugural Healthcare Policy Debate.
  • Ann James, MSN, RN, was honored as this year's DAISY Faculty Award recipient. Honorable mentions went to Tracey Motter, DNP, RN and Tracy Dodson, MSN, RN.
  • Tina Saunders, MSN, RN, CNE, GCNS-BC, received a Faculty Recognition Award at the Kent State University Teaching Council Conference for making a difference in a student's life.
  • Gina Severino, RN, MSN, ACNS-BC, senior lecturer at Kent State University College of Nursing Trumbull campus and current Kent State DNP student, was recently awarded the Excellence in Nursing Practice - Nursing Education Award by the Ohio Nurses Association. This award is presented to advanced practice registered nurses who demonstrate direct care impact or impact on the overall system, which affects the direct care of patients.

Emeriti Faculty

  • Shirley Hemminger, MSN, RN, professor emerita from Kent State University College of Nursing Kent campus, was inducted into the Ohio Nurses Association's Cornelius Congress. The Cornelius Congress recognizes nurses who have demonstrated outstanding leadership characteristics such as communication, mentoring, and analytical thinking. It is named after Dorothy Alice Cornelius, the only person to have functioned as executive director of the Ohio Nurses Association; president of the International Council of Nurses; president of the American Nurses Association, and president of the American Journal of Nursing.

  • Dr. Mariann Harding, associate professor of nursing at Kent State University Tuscarawas campus, served on the editing team of the 10th edition of the award-winning book, Medical-Surgical Nursing: Assessment and Management of Clinical Problems. Harding wrote four chapters for the book, including "Professional Nursing Practice" and "Fluid, Electrolyte, and Acid-Base Imbalance" and was section editor for ten chapters. The book was recently named a 2017 book of the year winner by the American Journal of Nursing (AJN).
