
Mary Lou Gemma Ferranto, Ph.D., MSN, RN, CNP
Biography
I have been an RN for more than 40 years as a critical care nurse and adult nurse practitioner. I have worked at Boston Beth Israel Deaconess, Boston, Mass; New York University Medical Center, New York City; and Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh PA as a critical care nurse, nurse manager and critical care educator. As a nurse practitioner I have worked in primary care, elder care, women's health and nephrology.
I have also been fortunate to teach at KSU as full-time professor for the past 25 years. I am currently a professor of nursing with the BSN program at the Salem regional campus. I have taught in the BSN program, RN to BSN programs, as well as the NP program at KSU. In addition I was faculty in an ADN program in Morristown, New Jersey. I have numerous publications, as well as many international and national presentations. My areas of research is cultural humility and short term study abroad programs.
