Community-Based Learning & Volunteerism

Volunteer and service-learning opportunitiesare available at local social service agencies through which students do everything from feeding those less fortunate, to assisting children and adults in learning to read, to providing services that have positive effects on the environment, to acting as conversation partners for international students. Students may also choose to complete their Experiential Learning Requirement (ELR) by using a non-course based option.

University staff is available to assist you in matching your desire to serve with the needs of the community. Contact Ann Gosky at 330.672.8004 or at agosky@kent.edu.

Leadership Opportunities

There are several opportunities to develop leadership skills as you engage in service to our community. We are always hoping to engage students as Community Service Leaders, Immersion Trip Leaders and leaders in our Alternative Spring Break program. In addition, the Campus Kitchen Project at Kent State University is in need of members to fill positions on its leadership team.
