Billing & Cancellation

Q: My bill is due Aug. 3. What happens if it is unpaid after Aug. 3?
A: Payments received between Aug. 6 and Aug. 9 are subject to a $30 late fee. If you have an unpaid balance of $750 or more after 5 p.m. on Aug. 9, you will be subject to cancellation of your fall schedule. You will receive an email to your @kent.edu email if your classes have been canceled. If you have questions regarding payment options to avoid the late fee and class cancellation, please contact the One Stop for Student Services at 330-672-6000.

Q: What should I do if my classes are canceled due to non-payment on Aug. 9?
A: You will receive an email to your @kent.edu email if your classes have been canceled. You must re-register for your classes. To do so, log in to FlashLine at https://login.kent.edu. From the menu:

  • Select "Student"
  • Select "Resources"
  • Select "Courses and Registration"
  • Select "Add or Drop a Course"

A previous semester balance may have resulted in an Ineligible Hold being placed on your account, not allowing you to re-register. If you have a registration hold on your account, please view the reason via FlashLine and resolve the hold. If the registration hold is due to an outstanding balance, you must pay the balance via FlashLine to release the hold. You may also contact the One Stop for Student Services at 330-672-6000 or the Contact Us link on our website or visit your Kent State University Regional Campus for questions.

Please note: If you re-register, your new bill due date will be Sept. 19.

Q: What do I do if I have an extenuating circumstance and cannot pay my bill?
A: We are here to help! Please contact the One Stop at 330-672-0022. Regional Campus students can contact your Regional Campus representatives. Let us help you determine the options to help you meet your goals to attend Kent State.

Q: How can I submit my Financial Guarantee to apply to my tuition?
A: If you have a Financial Guarantee from Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission, Embassy of the State of Kuwait, Oman or any other International Financial Guarantee, please check to be sure that the dates on the Financial Guarantee covers the exact dates of your class schedule. If the dates are correct, please place your student Kent State ID on the top of the Financial Guarantee. You can either fax it to us at 330-672-6001 or upload it to our website, then select the Yellow Contact Us box in the upper right-hand corner. You can also drop it off at our office located on the first floor of University Library from Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Please note: Class cancellation for non-payment is Thursday, Aug. 9. If you have not submitted your Financial Guarantee for fall, please do so before 5 p.m. on Aug. 9 in order to avoid class cancellation.

Q: What if I am using third-party payment like a 529 to pay my student’s bill? Is there anything I need to know?
A: If you submit your 529 confirmation notice by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, we will ensure that your class schedule is not canceled for non-payment until the actual payment is received. The confirmation must indicate the amount that is in transit to Kent State and must cover the amount due on your student’s account. In addition, please indicate the student’s name and Kent State ID on the confirmation page. You can send it to us via our fax at 330-672-6001 or upload it to our website at www.kent.edu/onestop using the yellow Contact Us button.

Q: Does Kent State offer a payment plan?
A: The university currently has a four-month payment plan option through Tuition Management Systems (TMS). Each payment plan has a scheduled due date:

  • Now through Aug. 31 (by Aug. 9 to avoid cancellation due to non-payment)
  • Sept. 1 for three-month plan (for those registered after Aug. 3)

Students can enroll in the plan via their FlashLine account under Student/Finances/Tuition&Payments/Monthly Payment Plan or by simply going to www.kent.afford.com. There is a $55 enrollment fee to enroll per semester. Please note that changes made to your bill or financial aid will not automatically adjust your payment plan. You can adjust your TMS payment plan to match the exact costs by contacting TMS or logging into your TMS account.
