Fulani Institute Fall 2019

Participants of the fall 2019 Fulani Institute sessions will hone existent talents and explore theatre arts as an instrument for education, community dialogue and celebration of Pan-African culture. The Institute will meet from 12 pm - 2 pm in room 250 Oscar Ritchie Hall on the following Saturdays during Fall semester: September 7 & 21; October 5 & 19; November 9 & 23; December 7.
Under the directorship of Dr. Asantewa Sunni-Ali, participants will perform "First Fruits, A Kwanzaa Play" written by Dr. Sunni-Ali. The First Fruits (matunda ya kwanza in Ki-Swahili) come to life as the seven principles of Kwanzaa. Through poetic song and rhythm each fruit shares the significance of their special principle with the gathered village.
The production will take place at 2pm on Saturday, December 7, 2019. The show will be a part of the Center of Pan-African Culture's Pre-Kwanzaa program with is from 2-4 pm on the same day.
