Pan-African Theatre Ensemble announces student auditions for two upcoming productions

The Pan-African Theatre Ensemble will hold student auditions for two productions: “An Echo in the Bone” by Dennis Scott and “Malcauchon, or Six in the Rain” by Derek Walcott.  Auditions will be held in the African Community Theatre, room 230 Oscar Ritchie Hall, located at 225 Terrace Drive on Kent State University campus, August 27, 28, 29 at 6:00 p.m.

The ensemble is seeking 4-5 Black women or women of color and 6-7 Black men or men of color to audition for a mainstage production and a short reading during the fall 2018 semester.  Those who wish to audition will need to prepare a monologue, song/dance, and be prepared to do a dramatic reading. In addition to actors, the ensemble is looking for technical staff in the area of lighting and sound.

The goal of the Pan-African Theatre Ensemble is to produce engaging, inspiring, experimental, and eclectic theatre and performance styles from the Pan-African world. Under the direction of D. Amy-Rose Forbes-Erickson the PATE offers opportunities to connect with people from various backgrounds and cultures, and chances to travel and perform at festivals and events – USA, Caribbean, and Africa.  Please contact Dr. Forbes-Erickson for further info at (330)672-0082 or dforbese@kent.edu.
