The next release of KSU Mobile will feature a newly designed Me@KSU. Platform & Integration Solutions has worked closely with students across campus to design and test the user interface and experience. “With KSU Mobile, as with all of our applications, we aim to provide a great user experience that users will not only find useful, but easy to use as well. To do this we team up with students across the Kent campuses to help design and test our applications” says Thomas Burdick of Platform & Integration Solutions.

The Design Process and User Testing

The Me@KSU on the mobile app that we’re looking to update is pictured below:

The designers created two designs that would be tested by users. This ensured a few different options that could be tested. Notice above that each of the designs have their own unique elements. For example, the design on the left shows a tab system similar to the current Me@KSU, while the design on the right shows a sliding tab system. Small differences like this are key in testing because users will provide useful feedback about each element in the designs. After testing with users, the two designs were sort of mixed together to come up with the final design, which, if you notice above, includes the sliding tab system.
