Congratulations to Mr. Brian Kelley on being elected VP of GMIS International

Mr. Brian Kelley, CIO of Portage County, Ohio and part-time instructor in the Kent-MPA Program has been elected to serve as 2nd Vice President of GMIS International

Mr. Brian Kelley, CIO of Portage County, Ohio and part-time instructor in the Kent-MPA Program has been elected to serve as 2nd Vice President of GMIS International. With over 450 member groups across 40 states, GMIS International  (www.gmis.org) represents the largest professional association of public sector IT leaders in the United States. Additionally, GMIS has world-wide presence with international affiliations  in Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

Brian Kelley has also recently contributed to the article "The Legal Implications of BYOD" which published on the Government Innovators Network / Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Under his leadership, Portage County was selected as the winner of International Government Management Information Sciences GMIS G2 Award in 2011. The County received the award for its  GIS (geographical information system) accomplishments. The award was given in Santa Fe, NM, at the GMIS Conference, 2011.The award announcement stated, "Your world class program is a shining example of how to bring government closer to its citizens, G2C". This is a great honor for Portage County and Brian Kelly to receive this award.
