Strategic Vision Process
The first step in defining a distinctively great Kent State is to gain an even deeper understanding of who we are, what we stand for, and where we want to be in the future. In order for the university to continue to serve the communities around it, as well as reach its strategic vision, it is critical the university develop a common narrative that will serve all constituents. This narrative must tell the story of who we are and what we stand for at Kent State in an authentic and compelling way. Once developed, this communications platform will support and be used by all areas of the institution in order to best reach constituencies of the university.
Strategic visioning incorporates a culture of inclusiveness and collegiality as the Kent State University community seeks to build upon its strengths and momentum of recent years to address societal challenges and opportunities in the next decade. Strategic visioning will determine how, as a preeminent institution, Kent State will address those challenges. Strategic visioning at Kent State has endeavored to be collaborative and comprehensive and, as is shown in the timeline here, has received input from more than 5,000 individuals, including students, faculty and staff, community members and alumni.
Our inclusive process of strategic visioning has occurred in six distinct phases to date: Appointment of the Strategic Visioning Advisory Committee, Discovery and Research, Focus Groups, Call to Action, Town Hall Meeting and Quantitative Surveys.
