Welcome Golden Flashes
Dear Kent State Community Members:
The fall semester absolutely is the best time of the year as we enjoy the excitement of the dawning of a new academic year, energized by the sights and sounds of campuses buzzing with activity and brimming with the full return of the campus community. There is a palpable sense that Kent State’s positive momentum is about to snowball into a future unlike any we can imagine. And so it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2015 Fall Semester.
You have my deep gratitude for being a part of what makes Kent State a truly unique place — one that is a supportive home for so many of us — that sparks creative and critical thinking, innovative and invigorating ideas and the emergence of meaningful voices in students, faculty and staff alike. Kent State is alive with discovery — from research to solve the world’s grand challenges and great mysteries to the inner journey of finding your most authentic self. And most importantly, as we launch into another year together, we hold steadfast to our belief that every voice matters and everyone has a uniquely valuable difference to make.
This semester, we will move full-speed ahead with several ongoing initiatives where your voice truly matters. Stay tuned for the announcement of the opportunity to hear more about our strategic visioning and communication plan as we launch a number of Forums for the Future where we will share ideas and seek your input. We also will be sharing the recommendations from the One University Commission as we continue to seek ways to enhance our one-university, eight-campus system.
We will need you and every member of our community — no matter how long you have been here or what role you play — to be “all in” as we begin the far-reaching work of bringing Kent State’s shared vision to life and to sharing that vision more distinctly and with a wider reach than ever before in our history.
You — students, faculty and staff members on every campus of our one, wonderful university — are the reason I have so much hope for our future. And you are the reason I could not be more enthusiastic about working with you throughout Academic Year 2015-16 to tell the world about the inspiring place I am so thankful to call my home and so proud to see embracing its role as a world-class center of learning, innovation and public service.
So this semester, as our campuses are filled with the energy and anticipation of a new academic year, let’s continue our tradition of Blue and Gold Pride Days to celebrate our Kent State spirit. Join with me as we show the world we are one university under the banner of blue and gold!
