Ashley White is a 2009 graduate of Kent State University and was commissioned as an Army Officer through Kent State's ROTC program. Ashley served as one of the first Cultural Support Team (CST) members in the US Army, a pilot program to put female soldiers on the battlefield in Afghanistan. She was killed in action on October 22, 2011.

The race is a celebration of her life, a tribute to her service, and a reminder of the cost of freedom. The proceeds from this race are placed in the Ashley White Memorial Scholarship Fund which will be awarded annually to an outstanding ROTC Cadet.

April 28, 2018 for a beautiful cause.
